Susan
M. Landon is an independent petroleum geologist
affiliated with Thomasson Partner Associates in Denver,
Colorado, is actively involved in petroleum exploration in the
United States and teaches industry courses worldwide. She
received her Bachelor's degree in geology from Knox College
and her Master's from the State University of New York at
Binghamton. Her career in the petroleum industry began in
Denver with Amoco Production Company in 1974. Early experience
included exploration throughout the Rocky Mountains, Alaska,
and the Midcontinent. In 1987, she was transferred to Houston
as Exploration Training Manager for Amoco. Her career as a
consultant and independent began in 1990, when she returned to
Denver. Ms. Landon has served two terms on the Board of Earth
Sciences and Resources of the National Research Council and
currently serves as the Chairman of the Committee on Earth
Resources. She has also been active in several professional
organizations serving as President of the American Institute
of Professional Geologists, Treasurer of the American
Association of Petroleum Geologists, and President of the
American Geological Institute.
Susan is an expert in exploration for oil & gas in
the Western US and on land accessibility in this region.
Susan is on the board of directors of the Energy
Literacy Project.
