National Energy Education Development (NEED)

NEED

The National Energy Education Development program’s mission is to develop and distribute educational material and programs to schools across the nation.  The website offers innovative curriculum guides and activities focused on energy for all grade levels.  NEED provides local workshops for teachers and teams of students.  These are designed to offer energy education curriculum ideas, while also encouraging student leadership.  To further this goal, the program also hosts the National Youth Awards for Energy Achievement to recognize outstanding student projects.  There are also National Conferences for Educators, five-day programs that train teachers on how to include energy education in the classroom and in extracurricular activities, which award three hours of graduate credit.  Many of NEED’s programs are free, but the conferences do require substantial sponsorship.

This program is rated a 5.
