The American Forest Foundation
has sponsored a hands-on education program called Project Learning Tree.
Project Learning Tree offers environmental education for K-12 that focuses on
land, air, and water in a local national and global scope. This curriculum
underscores Project Learning Tree's primary goal -- to help children learn how
to think about complex environmental issues, and to develop the student's
abilities to make informed decisions on environmental issues.
This curriculum is easily
adaptable to many different areas such as the classroom, youth organizations,
museums, nature centers, and Scout Troops. Nearly 100 activities are
offered in a storyline technique covering different themes like biodiversity,
structure and scale, and patterns of change. This site also offers
background information, an extensive bibliography, and a cross reference index
to assist is any curriculum needs.
This program is rated a 4.
