American Coal Foundation

The American Coal Foundation offers materials and programs to educate teachers and students about the coal industry. Provided are videos that range from free to $15.00, and teaching packets designed to teach students about the modern coal industry, highlighting coal's importance to the generation of electricity. The teachers packets that the ACF offers include hands-on classroom activities and contain many materials that may be reproduced free of charge. Also available free of charge is a coal kit containing samples of the four different types of coal along with a brief description of their formation, use and properties.

The teachers packets include very useful curriculum for K-12 students such as: general information brochures on coal, electricity and land reclamation, such as "Coal: Ancient Gift Serving Modern Man;" "Let's Learn More About Coal" coloring and activity book; "Power from Coal" activity book with teacher guide; "Coal: An Introduction" activity kit; activities for elementary and secondary students; a coal video guide; a science fair ideas brochure; and coal posters.
